Diuretic Effects of Ethyl Alcochol on Chronic Post-hemorrhagic Anemic Sunjects

Abstract
The diuretic effects of water or alcohol drinking on 4 chronic post-hemorrhagic anemic and 3 normal subjects were studied. The results are summarized as follows:
1, The early dilution of plasma after water intake was attributed to the transport of solutes from plasma to the alimentary tract.
2. The decreases in osmolality of anemic plasma, following water intake, were rapid and more extensive than that of normal plasma.
3. The diuretic effects of water loading on the anemic subjects were slight in comparison with that on the normal persons.
4. The absorption of ethyl alcohol was slower in the anemic subjects than in the normal.
5. The diuretic effect of alcohol was not consistent during the period of 3 hours.
